(Rihanna & her mom)
Mother’s Day is over but that hasn’t stopped the slew of celebrities from taking over twitter and Instagram with photos from their weekend with mommy. Everyone from Kelly Rowland, Rocsi, Keke Palmer, and Rihanna shared their photos.
(Swizz Beats & his mom)
The Dark Room Editor-In-Chief, Tamara Revis, got together with photographer Robert Ector, make-up artist Latasha Wright, and hair stylist Rikya Taylor to put together this special interview with mother’s of some of the most established celebrities to find out what it was like raising the star that we all see today.
(Susan Parker and daughter, Nicole Ari Parker)
TDR: What’s your proudest moment of Nicole?
Susan Parker: I have so many……I just get more and more proud. I really like the fact that when Nicole wants something, she has a tenacity that is second to none. She gives it everything she’s got. Like her part in the play, Street Car Named Desire (Broadway), it’s been a dream of hers since she graduated college. When the call finally came, and I knew that it would, I felt that she would really give it everything she had and when I saw her present it, I knew that she did just that. That’s one of the moments. There has been many, many more. I like the way she transitioned into motherhood. I remember we had a discussion, where she asked “Mommy how can you do everything? How can I be a mommy, an actress, a wife?” My reply was, the women of your age and in this day and age, they should be able to do everything. It’s like magic. The same way she works at being a good actress and fine tuning her art, she also works very hard parenting and I enjoy watching that.
(Anita Johnson and her daughter, Toya Wright)
TDR: So tell us what has been your proudest Toya moment thus far?
Anita: I’m so proud of Toya for many reasons. I love the fact that she is a wife and that my grand baby gets to see that. I really admire her for keeping that family unit close. I’m proud of all of that.
(Zonnique and her mother, Tameka “Tiny” Harris)
TDR: What do you admire most about Zonnique?
Tiny: What I admire most about Zonnique is her humbleness, her very sweet spirit and that it is all truly genuine.
