LaTocha Scott Covers BE Magazine

As the former lead singer for the 1990s R&B group Xscape, which also included now reality TV stars Tameka ‘Tiny Cottle’ Harris and Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kandi Burross, LaTocha Scott helped push the group of four ladies managed by Jermaine Dupri into mainstream with songs like Kickin’ It, Can’t Hang, Run To The Arms Of The One Who Loves You, Little Secret and Work Me Slow.  Shortly after the break up of the group, LaTocha broke out on her own pursuing a solo career spawning songs in the early 2000’s performing features for artists like J-Shin and his ‘One Night Stand’ single.

After taking a severe hiatus, LaTocha Scott is back with new music, a slimmer look and a new magazine feature with BE Magazine where she revealed that she would be happy to have the girls get back together and get another Xscape album out to the people.

“I would LOVE for that to happen! I know Tiny she hit me like a week ago like you know lets talk and do lunch, so I may put that bug in her ear and see how she feels about it. My sister Tameka is always down so that’s her, as far as Kandi, I haven’t spoken to her, but you never know. I mean I don’t know if she would BE willing to do a reunion, I know she busy with her businesses and things. But as far as the group is concerned I would definitely wanna do something. I’m thinking about including the girls on one of my songs for my album. I think it would BE great. I think we owe our fans that as well.”

Ready to give it another try, LaTocha also dished to Rolling Out Mag about her break from the industry and her new approach as a solo artist.

On life outside the industry:

Actually, I did some soul searching.  I spent time trying to find life outside of the group. I also wrote about my experiences and it eventually became a book that will come out soon. I just released a single called “Bad Timing” which is the first single off of my upcoming album. I also got a mixtape coming called Truth in the Booth with 10 free songs.

On being a solo act and her approach to succeeding this time around:

The approach that was different for me, is that I signed myself to myself.  I took those words from Ludacris. I went out and I got producers that were very hungry and I let them do their thing so that they can make their mark. So I have new producers and writers on this album. This time, I came into it with a business mind-set. I didn’t do that when I was younger. We were in a situation where Jermaine had his own label, he came in and told us what to do.  A lot of times, we were trying to come up with our own lyrics and it was sometimes back and forth. But this time around, it’s basically vision and it feels so good.
