For Those Who Can’t Wait: Watch The First Full Episode of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta [Editors Review]

Although I am not sure why the episode was released by VH1 days before it was set to air on television, it has and is now available for everyone who just can’t wait to see what this show is all about. Being the impatient individual that I am, I took the time to watch the 41 minute episode and good Lord…I have no idea where to start.

First and foremost, I want to make it publicly known that I do not care for this Joseline woman and I probably never will. So let’s go on the record now and put a big fat red x over her name and any picture that may surface on the internet.

Moving along.

The first episode of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta is definitely a lot to digest. There was so much going on in just this one episode that I am not sure my poor heart can take 10 full episodes. In the first 10 minutes of the show, we are immediately hit with the drama going on between cast members Mimi and Stevie J. While MiMi seems to be genuinely down for Stevie J she is far from trusting of her man and rightly so. It is suspected and later on confirmed that Stevie has been carrying on an affair with “Joseline” who lacks any tact and feels no remorse for messing with a man who is already several years involved. As Joseline, her “hair” and rock hard chest enters the scene, we are hit with an annoying accent and overly determined woman who is out to not only make what she thinks will be million dollar records, but who is also on a mission to be a “forever” thing with Stevie. Mimi finds out later, through our girl Karlie Redd that Joseline and Stevie have been keeping each other company outside of the studio and all of Hades breaks loose.

Next we are introduced to Erica who is the on and off girlfriend of Lil Scrappy. They have been together for 10 years and have a young daughter. The couple are struggling to piece together their relationship which fell apart suddenly after Scrappy left Erica for his former girlfriend Diamond. After a very public and humiliating break up with Diamond, Scrappy finds himself running back to the very woman he left and hurt only now, she is not as sure about the relationship as he would hope she would be. Things turn left when Momma Dee, Scrappy’s mother, enters the picture. Momma Dee, who is a 48 year old ex-pimp, reminds the viewer a lot of Jim Jones mother. Overly protective, crazy, and always in the way. While she has her sons best interest at heart, Momma Dee often forgets that there are lines that mothers just should not cross when it comes to the affairs of their children.

Next up on the plate we have K.Michelle who is a singer and single mother living in the A trying to get her music right after an alleged “abusive” relationship which she later goes into more detail about later in the season. As we watch this episode we kind of get the feeling that K will be one of the women on the show who we will ultimately grow to love thanks to her humble and down to earth personality. As we watch her struggle to break free of the “flop” title that has been applied to her due to the lack of support from her former label, we hope to see K achieve great things this season.

Then there is Joseline [crickets]. Now, because I like to keep things positive here I will refrain for voicing my true deep seeded feelings about her, however, if you catch me on Facebook I may not be so censored with my feelings and for now this is all of the attention her name will get from me.

Last but not least, we are briefly introduced [for the second time] to Karlie Redd. During her opening scene with her boyfriend, Antonio Reed who happens to be the son of L.A. Reid, we get to see a very energetic and determined young woman eager to move on with her music career. Her first “misunderstanding” of the season comes after she reveals to her long time friend, MiMi, that she was under the impression that Joseline and Stevie were an item based off their first initial meeting. Naturally, after this revelation all hell breaks loose on the set…
