Feeling Sluggish? 5 Ways To Boost Your Energy

Have you ever had those moments where you just didn’t feel like moving around or doing anything productive?  You don’t know why but for some reason you are feeling tired even after a good nights sleep and you just can’t seem to get that extra boost of energy going no matter what you have tried.

The last few weeks have been very draining for me.   I was not sure if it was a health related problem, me not getting enough sleep or simply the ever changing weather down here in the South.  Each day I woke up to find myself more tired then the day before and I just could not understand why. I mean I know that going to bed at 12:00 am is a little late for some, but when you do not have to wake up until 8:30 the next day I would assume that this would be enough time to get a decent amount of sleep.

In an attempt to figure out a way to get my energy back I took to my trusty online BFF (Google) to get some ideas on how to boost my energy so that I can get more work done during the day without feeling like a zombie by 2pm. I tried these methods and have found that these 5 methods seem to work best for me.

1. Upbeat Music

There is something about music with a up-tempo beat that almost automatically lifts the spirit.  Create a playlist on your IPod or phone that works best and keep it handy.  You never know when you may need a quit playlist boost to wake you up.

2. Coffee or Energy Drinks

These two don’t work for everyone, but for the average person the caffeine and sugar from these drinks can work wonders for a short-term boost in energy.

3.  Moving around

If you spend hours sitting in front of the computer or with the computer in your lap (like me) then it is easy to forget to move sometimes.  By getting up every so often to do chores around the house or walk around the office, you may find your body’s energy level rise.

4. A Quick Hot/Cold Showers

When I say quick, I do mean quick.  No more than 10 minutes and be sure to rotate from hot water to cold water making sure that the last rotation is cold water.  There is something about cold water that immediately wakes the body up giving you the extra burst of energy needed to wake up and get moving.

5.  Just Go Outside and Do Something

That’s right.  Get up off your lazy butt, go outside and enjoy the sun. Walk around the block or just sit on your front porch with a glass of lemonade.

These are just 5 techniques that seem to work for me and they may not work for everyone else. However, I do suggest giving these a try next time you are feeling a little sluggish and see how they work!
