Erica Got The Ring, Shay Got The Sting; It Is Time To Let It Go

If you’ve indulged yourself in ratchet entertainment this summer than you are all too familiar with the situation between Love and Hip Hop Atlanta’s Shay “Buckeey” Johnson and Erica Dixon. If not, allow me briefly explain.

On Part 2 of the Love and Hip Hop Reunion, Scrappy played Shay to left in a big way putting emphasis on the fact that Shay was nothing more than a friend or as he put it, a very good ‘homie’. Clearly, we all know that they were more than friends at one point, but the fact remains that on that day, he refused to acknowledge that she was ever anything more than a ‘homie’ to him. As she sat on the couch, she watched footage of Scrappy lying constantly to her about the status of their relationship to Erica and then sat quietly (for the most part) as Scrappy explained to both Erica and Mona that he was wrong for ever dealing with Shay because she was never what he really wanted.

By the end of the set, Shay had exited the stage hurt by Scrappy only to then witness (backstage) Scrappy propose to Erica.

Moving forward a few weeks later, Shay is still feeling the sting from her relationship with Scrappy. Obviously hurt, Shay feels a certain type of way about Erica ‘flaunting her ring’ to which she had the following reply.

“Waving your ring. Girl, that piece of sh** ain’t sh**. On top of that, when you waving some sh** and throwing something in somebody’s face make sure you got all the man. He’s still over here. Get him off my line before you talk that sh**.”

This response is a classic “I’m hurt so I am going to say whatever flies out of mouth even if it isn’t true’ messy response. It has been my experience [yes, I am guilty of it myself] that when we are hurting we lash out and say things that we normally would not say just to hurt the other individual.

Whether or not Scrappy is, in fact, still calling Shay and whatever the nature of those calls are should not be used to discredit anything that Erica and Scrappy have with each other, especially since Scrappy has openly admitted that he is very good friends with Shay and does talk to her regularly.

At this point, Shay just comes off as being bitter, hateful and dead set on ruining the relationship. Shay wishes to build a certain level and/or wall of distrust on Erica’s end which will eventually double over and cause conflict at which time Shay then hopes that Scrappy will run back to her landing somewhere between her sheets. Once this happens, Shay will be able to confidently say to Erica…I told you so, I won.

Ladies, this needs to stop. There is no pride in ‘having another womans man’. None at all.

At some point, you have to look at yourself and re-evaluate your life. As sad as it may seem, it is hard to feel sorry for Shay because this is not the first time that Shay has put herself in a situation that she really should not have been in.

It is time to let it go hon. Walk away, find yourself and find you a ‘self’ of your own.
