Aaliyah

While Aaliyah’s family as well as her longtime friends Timbaland and Missy Elliott have stated that they will not support or participate in Drake’s new posthumous Aaliyah album, there is one person who was very close to her that seems to be all for it, as long as the project remains positive and true to her energy.

Aaliyah’s boyfriend and close friend at the time, Dame Dash seems to be more than happy to have new Aaliyah material to rock to.  At the time she passed, Aaliyah and the former Roc-A-Fella head honcho were very close, so close in fact that the two were rumored to be in talks about taking the their relationship to the next step…marriage.

Last summer Dame opened up the emotional wound when he talked about his feelings for Aaliyah with Billboard.

“The energy we created together for people to observe was kind of crazy. We’d be in a room full of people talking to each other and it felt like everyone was listening but it would be just us,” Dame explained in an interview. “It would be like we were the only ones in the room. It was like something was going down in history every time I was with her. Every time I was around her I felt it was the place to be. Our time together meant so much that when we got more time, we felt like that [engagement] would be next. She was one of the best people I ever met. Even with the pain I felt, I would do it all over again.”

Now he has come forward to give his two peas on the project that Drake has in works and whether or not he be willing to help out if asked:

“Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate,” Mona Scott-Young, longtime manager for Missy Elliott, says. “We’ve seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated.”
