Cissy Houston To Write Whitney Memoir But Family Is Pissed?; Family Says It’s All About Money
I am going to say what everyone wants to say but probably won’t. Since the passing of Whitney we have seen and heard a lot out of her mother, Cissy Houston. During the course of Whitney’s career, it was very rare when we would spot or see her mother much less hear her mother speak to the public regarding her daughter. However, in the last few months we can’t seem to get her to be quiet.
Most recent news on Cissy and her quest to “’keep Whitney alive” it that Cissy has been approved for a book deal in which she will write a memoir about her late daughters life. While many fans (including myself) would love to read stories about Whitney’s upbringing, her career and get an exclusive look inside her life, one must wonder if Cissy is the right person to give us that. It is no secret that Whitney lived a life totally different from what her mother would have hoped for her to live. As Cissy has commented before, Whitney lived a very secular life despite her upbringings in the church and although Whitney held tight to her faith and loved God dearly, it is no secret that the Whitney loved to party and have fun.
Family members of Whitney feel as though Cissy’s attempt to all of a sudden want to be involved with her daughters legacy is simply a ploy to generate money off her deceased child, much like Joe Jackson has attempted to capitalize off the passing of his son, Michael Jackson. Members of the Houston family are completely against the release of the this book, citing that they have a feeling that Cissy will use this opportunity to portray herself as the mother that she wasn’t.
“She will try to come out looking like the world’s greatest mom, when in actuality, she wasn’t.”
For months we have watched Cissy Houston blame everyone for Whitney’s faults refusing to acknowledge that regardless of who she was involved with, she was still a very strong woman who admittedly did things because she simply wanted to. I can’t help but think that this book will be no different.
Do you think that Cissy is using her daughters death as a way to earn money? Do you think that Cissy knew enough about Whitney life to write an accurate memoir? Will this book be another way to place blame on everyone else?
What are your thoughts?
