Ashanti Paid $20,000 By Atlantic City High School To Speak To Students; School Says It Was A “Lifetime Opportunity” That Couldn’t Be Passed On

Ashanti has been trending via the internet since news about her recent visit to Atlantic City High School leaked.  According to reports, Ashanti was paid a large lump sum of $20,000 from the district budget account to appear in front of a group of high school students.  The Assistant Superintendent for the school addressed concerns about the amount of money pulled from the the school districts budget to pay for the former Murder Inc artist to appear at the school.

“The funds to pay her appearance fee came from the district budget account designated for the improvement of instructional services and that the school saw her appearance as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity”

Many are calling foul play and wondering why the “God-daughter” of the Mayor of Atlantic City was paid such a large amount when the money used to pay her could have been applied to school books and other educational needs in the school.

In addition to the frustration of this situation, many are also highly upset with the singers choice of outfit.  During her visit, Ashanti opted to wear a mini multi-colored form fitting body con dress with a pair of beige stilettos.

During her visit the singer also took time to take photos with the students and do an interview with the schools radio station.

 

I am sure that this is not the first time that a celebrity or influential figure has been paid to make an appearance and it surely wont be the last time it happens either.
