5 Shows They Should Bring Back To Replace Reality Shows

I love TV One mainly because they play the best re-runs ever. In a matter of hours I can watch Good Times, Half & Half, A Different World, Martin, and Living Single. Out of all the channels that I am currently wasting my money paying for this channel can get my attention all day long.

As I was watching the channel this past weekend I couldn’t help but reminisce on how great TV use to be. We had so many Black sitcoms and television series of quality to choose from at one point that it was kind of hard to keep up. i was hoping that by The Game being brought back to television that I would once again have something other than Bad Girls Club and Bravo to watch but that was a horrible fail.

I long for the days when I could sit in front of my television and watch the following shows:

1. Half & Half

I don’t know about you but I lived for Big Dee Dee and Phyllis’ rivalry. Something about the way they traded insults brought a certain sass and jazz to the show and wasn’t Mona’s hair absolutely gorgeous?

2. Girlfriends

Everyone loved Girlfriends. Girlfriends was a show that became universal in its audience and I believe that it would be accurate to assume that everyone was upset when they decided to end the show. I mean who else could bring life like that dang on Toni Childs?

3. Lincoln Heights

I didn’t get into this show until the last season but once I did get into it I couldn’t believe that it had taken me so long to watch it. The storyline for this show was phenomenal and relatively positive. It showed real life situations being dealt with that you don’t normally get to see in Black shows. From trying to raise a decent family while living in the hood, to the issue of interracial dating, puberty, and just life in general, Lincoln Heights is definitely on my list of shows that I wouldn’t mind having around.

4. EVE

Who would have thought that the “illest pitbull in a skirt” was so hilarious? I sure didn’t and was caught off guard when I found myself addicted to Janie, Shelley and Rita.

5. All Of Us

This is another show that I was not expecting to like but ultimately ended enjoying it. I always knew that Tia wouldn’t last and secretly hoped that Robert and Neesee would get back together. They just seemed like the perfect little family.

I believe all of those are good shows. I wouldn’t mind seeing any of them make a return. We are seriously in need of some quality television shows.

My wish is that they create a series of reality TV channels and put ALL of the reality shows there. Let’s be honest, besides watching the news aren’t we watching TV to escape reality?? Anyway, we are currently in the era of “remake”. Hollywood is remaking old movies why not remake some old TV shows like the Cosby show. Let’s get some entertainment with purpose and drive. I’m sick of the disgusting cat fights of whatever area – Housewives, and the desparate games of the Bachelor / -ette. And will someone please explain to me WHY any Kardashian has a TV show? …. and “reality” at that?? ugh! But …. there is no one to blame but the millions of people that tune in … boosting the ratings …. thus creating money for these triffling shows. *sighing* Hey! Let’s put a REAL reality show together …. let’s grab a couple of Kardashians, Hilton and associates, maybe a few House-wives,girlfriends, jumpoffs, tricks, etc…, strip them of ALL their finances …. drop them in a project apartment and give them a year to figure out how to get out of the ghetto. THAT I would tune into faithfully. Most wouldn’t last a week without their botox. LOL
